Several members of world19 will be meeting with Councillor David Miller next week in order

term solutions.

in strategizing and working to change the situation, please join us for this meeting.

Please indicate your interest by Thursday, June 14th.
2. OSCAR2 UPDATE
Our last newsletter told the story of Oscar2, a stray cat, who like hundreds of others in
Toronto seemed to be the victim of political & budget fighting between the Toronto
Humane Society and City Council. That story, with a few updates is at http://oscar.world19.com.
We have had little or no response from the addressees:
Councillor Mihevic, the City's Animal Services manager, the medical Officer of Health, and
the Humane Society. However, we were able to get a response from some of them, and some
updated information in an indirect fashion.
Two weeks ago, following a meeting on some City issues, I
mentioned the story to former mayor John Sewell, and then sent him a copy of the letter
(which is on our website). He wrote about the issue in this week's eye magazine. The June
7 issue of eye contained a column by John Sewell describing the background & current
problem. (We had forwarded the letter below to him recently).

It seems to confirm our perception that there is little encouraging news for lost or stray
animals in the City.
