This isn't a "green" issue because of St. Patrick's Day, but because it concerns two environmentally focused events in the area:

In this issue:
1. Earth Hour in the Village: Mar. 29
2. Conservation Fair: Mar. 19

1. EARTH HOUR IN THE VILLAGE: Community Participation

What will you be doing during Earth Hour?
Why not join in a community candlelight walk?  Saturday, March 29, 2008

A growing number of communities around the world will be "shutting off the lights" and reducing their power usage on Saturday, March 29th from 8-9 pm to demonstrate the need for greater global awareness and action on climate change. This international "Earth Hour Challenge" is being organized by the World Wildlife Federation, and Toronto is counting itself in!

Why not show your "green colours" by participating in a local candlelight walk along Bloor Street West? As a neighbourhood, we can make a difference. Let's show our commitment to reducing the creation of greenhouse gases and creating the possibility of a sustainable future.

On March 29th, get ready to walk:
  • Wear something green (and warm)
  • Turn off your lights, TVs, radios and computers (that includes power bars!)
  • Bring a candle and lighter/ match... or other light source
  • Bring your family, friends and pets
Join us at the parking lot by No Frills on Bloor St. West (east of Runnymede) at 7:45 pm.
At 8 pm we will walk west to the corner of Bloor and Jane, rain or moonshine.

It will be a great opportunity to meet up with others in the neighbourhood who want to work together to protect the future - and have some fun too.

world19 is proud to help organize this event. We will be posting updates on our website at www.world19.com. For more information, phone Christopher Holcroft at 416-760-8557.

Please pass on this information to any people or organizations you think would be interested.
