• To build and maintain a Village that serves the entire community.
  A successful community is one that is successful for all its members.

The Village should continue to provide retail & other services that serve residents' and other community members' day-to-day and "specialty" needs, including food, clothing, books, entertainment, as well as other community requirements (parks, community centres, places of worship, etc.)

• Help maintain small, owner-operated businesses in the Village.
  They have come to define the character of the Village, and help create the "Village" atmosphere, the loyalty of residents, and the unique attractiveness of the area for visitors. They are "Village businesses", not just "businesses in the Village".

In economic terms, the Village's uniqueness is its "golden egg".

• To achieve these goals, and to help foster the long-term strength of the Village, a broad-based stakeholder group should be developed to consider issues of importance to the community.
  Decisions affecting the direction and development of the Village affect all of us. As the heart of the community, the Village's makeup and future health is too important to be left solely to the whims and changes of "the market".

We need a long-term vision, and a structure that allows all community members together to consider issues of common concern - including the present and future of the Village.
