The following comments were sent to world19 in response to our notice about Jamie Bell's sudden passing. These weren't submitted as "planned tributes" to Jamie, but for the most part were the instant reaction by those who knew and cared about Jamie.

Thanks for this. I didn't know Jamie well but what I knew I loved. You wrote well about what was special about him. Like everyone else, I'm in shock, it's just too sad.

I hope to make it to a memorial, I'm off to Winnipeg for a few days on Wednesday, but depending on the timing, I hope to see you there.

Shocked to hear about Jamie - and what a nice tribute you wrote to him.

Pls. keep me posted about his funeral.

What incredibly sad news. I did not know Jamie personally but he was renown for being a man of positive action in the community and across the City. His ideas will be missed by the environmental movement but I especially hope that his family can cope with this tragic news.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jamie passing away. Please keep me posted on the date/time of the service.

I'm sorry to hear that , I last saw Jamie at the World 19 garden party.

How extremely shocking and sad.

This news comes as a real shock. He is truly 'irreplaceable' - this was the first thought that came to my mind when I read the message about Jamie's death.

Please keep me informed. Another member of our staff has worked closely with Jamie with the Chetwynd Community Development in Swansea Mews.

John, thank you very much for the news of Jamie's death and your true and kind words about him. Courage,

Sad news indeed...if you have any word on the funeral arrangements I would appreciate it if you would pass it on.

am very sad to hear this news - I was to see him tonight at the Swansea Community Advisory meeting, I know we will all be very sad about his absence.

Please send info as you know it.

[forwarding our note to another email list] I pass on this sudden and sad news regarding Jamie Bell from John Leeson and world 19

Thanks for letting us know. Terrible and shocking news. Jamie was a great leader for the community. He appeared very healthy and active -- you never know when "your number is up"!

We would greatly appreciate information on memorial services and which charities would be preferred for donations, etc.

Thanks for letting us know. Jamie became a good friend over the last two years. This will be very hard on his kids. Let me know about memorial service details as soon as you have them.

[And in another note, forwarded our notice to a distribution list] I copy a message received from John Leeson regarding the very sad news that Jamie Bell passed away on Saturday. Jamie epitomized the best values of the community.

Many of you have no doubt already heard the news. Please watch the www.world19.com website for details of a memorial service for Jamie.

Thanks for sending this very sad news. Jamie will be a great loss to the community and the city.

Unfortunately I'm out of the city on Saturday but I would like to send a note. Do you have contact information for his partner??

Is there someone I should send a note to about Saturday's event?
